Introducing GBT Therapy
Have a spa like experience with little discomfort, better cleaning and potentially leave with your teeth one shade whiter!
As a dental clinic that wants only the best for our patients, we are thrilled to be introducing GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) with EMS AIRFLOW®, an advanced technology developed in Switzerland, into our practice.
Keystone Dental is now one of only a handful of dental clinics outside of the lower mainland, as well as the first in Prince George, that’s fully certified to offer GBT.
Professional cleaning is necessary to your overall health and now it doesn’t need to be uncomfortable.
What is GBT?
Probably the best dental hygiene experience you will ever have.
GBT is the result of years of clinical research by Switzerland’s EMS Medical conducted with leading experts. GBT is a comfortable, fast and safe method that helps you keep your teeth healthy.
Cleaning with GBT does not damage teeth like conventional polishing and unlike traditional methods that may miss hidden pockets of biofilm, GBT uses a dye, known as a disclosing agent, to illuminate biofilm and guide clinicians as they use advanced tools, such as AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW® and PIEZON®, to remove it. These advanced tools use warm water mist, air, and AIRFLOW® PLUS erythritol powder to clean teeth, reducing the need for hand and sonic/ultrasonic tools for scaling.
It is important to remove 100% of the biofilm that lives on your teeth and gums. Nearly invisible to the naked eye, this mass of bacteria grows every day and can turn sugar into acids, which can then cause tooth decay. Biofilm can lead to various other health conditions besides tooth decay, such as gum disease, tooth loss, arthritis, diabetes, strokes, Alzheimer’s, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disease, which is why removing this harmful bacteria is a key way to preserve one’s oral and overall health.
An important (second) step of the GBT protocol is making biofilm visible on teeth and gums, which we’ll show you right in your appointment! Once we can see the amount and location of the biofilm, we can begin removal with air, warm water and powder. Because AIRFLOW® removes the biofilm, you won’t need the gritty, messy traditional polish at the end of your treatment either.
GBT is gentle on teeth, soft tissues, implants, and restorations, and it can be used for individuals of all ages, making it a suitable method for anyone, especially those who experience dental anxiety. This process also treats exposed dentin, gingivitis, mucositis, periodontitis and peri-implantitis, detects caries at an early stage, maintains orthodontic appliances, as well as preserves aesthetic restorations and healthy soft tissues.
Healthy mouth, healthy body, healthy life!
